With the development of national defense and industrial modernization， there is an increasing demand for nondestructive testing technology. As a completely non-contact nondestructive testing technology （NDT）， laser ultrasonic technology （LUT） can be used for in-situ testing and monitoring of complex structural parts in the environment of high temperature， high pressure， and radiation. In this paper， firstly， we introduce the laser detection technology of ultrasound. Secondly， the advantages of LUT are shown. Then the application cases of laser ultrasonic nondestructive testing technology （LUT&NDT） in industry and some existing problems are illustrated with examples， and we also give the solutions. Then the processing method of ultrasonic signal is expounded. Finally， we discuss and prospect the application prospect of LUT&NDT in advanced manufacturing.
