Abstract:An experimental set-up was constructed to measure the performances (the transmission efficiency, torque loss, speed loss and speed ratio) of a continuously variable transmission(CVT). A CVT with torque transmi ssion ability of 120 N·m was taken as an experimental object. Firstly, the test and data processing methods for obtaining the CVT performances were detailed. Then, performances of the CVT versus input rotational speed or output torque were measured when the output torque or input rotate were kept constant, respectively. Thirdly, the influences of some structure parameters, such as mass of the centrifugal rollers in the driving wheel of the CVT, stiffness of compression springs in the driving wheel of the CVT and stiffness of the limit springs in the driven wheel of the CVT, on the CVT perform ances were investigated. The experimental and analysis methods, and the experimental results presented in this paper are useful in development of a high efficiency rubber V-type CVT.
