As the mode convert motor with oblique slots has complex processing technology and high cost, an ultrasonic rotary motor by using a longitudinal- torsional vibration converter with holes was developed. The mode convert principle and working mechanism was analyzed. ANSYS was used to simulate the stator, including the working modes and harmonic response. A prototype was fabricated, and the working frequency, vibration mode, speed and torque were measured. The result indicates that the working frequency of the motor is about 57.5 kHz, the no-load speed can reach 1000 r/min and the hold torque can be 0.15 N?m,its mechanical characteristics are close to the prtotype with oblique slots.
