In order to obtain the optimal position of given number of passive dampers between two adjacent structures,an optimal arrangement was determined by using the H2performance index and an improved genetic algorithm.The viscoelastic damper was represented by the Kelvin model and the fluid damper by the Maxwell model.The optimization parameter expressions respectively using the two model interconnecting two single degree of freedom(SDOF)systems were adopted and the optimal parameters of passive dampers interconnecting two adijacent high-rise structures were obtained.An example of two adjacent super-high rise structures demonstrates the damping effectiveness and feasibility of the method.
