In order to investigate the energy dissipation characteristics of the wire dampers, the indoor aeolian vibration simulation tests were designed. Moreover, the static deformation of the wire damper was studied on the basis o f the perturbation method; and the energy dissipation calculation methods were e stablished by solving the vibration equation. The results show that the length o f the wire damper has a great influence on its natural frequency and energy diss ipation characteristics. The calculation method is confirmed to be reliable and the theoretical results agree well with the test results.
