The vibration of a tensioned flexible riser model is tested to verify the measuring technique which will be used for the vortex induced vibration model test. The numbers and locations of the strain gauges are firstly determined according to modal analysis theory. Then the Fiber Bragg grating sensors are innovatively used to acquire the strain signal time history, by which the time dynamic displacement time history and acceleration time history along the model are calculated. Meanwhile, the acceleration information along the model is acquired. The two dynamic accelerations are finally compared with each other and the theoretical results. The results show the feasibility of the Fiber Bragg technique using in the Vortex-Induced-Vibration model test.
