Abstract:In order to improve monitoring efficiency and location precision of impact damage in laminated composite, a method of damage imaging based on the Hilbert-Huang transform is issued. Imaging the wave packet after extraction via the Hilbert-Huang transform can simplify the raw signal and improve both the precision of time-of-flight extraction and the damage monitoring efficiency. The experiment showed that during the imaging procedure of impact damage on the laminated composite plate, imaging by the wave packet can distinctly improve the effect without changing the location precision. In addition, compared with short time Fourier transform, Hilbert-Huang transform has more advantages in regards to wave packet extraction and imaging results.
