Abstract:According to the requirements of the impact and vibration testing for carbon fiber reinforced plastics (CFRP) used in aircraft structures, the method of achieving impact localization with resistance strain gauge is proposed. First, the dynamic strain signal is received from the resistance strain gauge. Then, the wavelet transform is applied to extract the arrival time of the signal. The wave velocity is calculated based on Mindlin plate theory. Finally, the coordinate of the impact source can be obtained by the localization algorithm proposed in this paper. Experiments are carried out on a carbon fiber laminate plate with the size of 400mm≠400mm≠2mm.The experimental results show that the error is less than 10mm.Thus, this paper provides a feasible approach to achieve structural health monitoring of aircraft structures.
