Abstract:This paper presents the structure and application of radial rib deployable antenna, and deals with the influence on dynamic characteristics, from the preload of the clamp band and the clearance between ribs and limiters. A simplified model is designed and machined for vibration tests, in which the preload and clearance are independent variables. Vibration tests are carried out to study the relationship between the natural frequency and response of the structure and independent variables. It shows that a preload within the normal range has no effect on the natural frequency of the antenna. Preload increasing can reduce the response value by a small amount. The natural frequency and response of ribs is independent of the clearance, and the increase on input magnitude moves the format of rib rearward.
